Symphony N° 2: The Golden Age is a commentary - somehow ironic - on the contemporary human condition compared with that described by the Greek poet Hesiod as the Golden Age, when humankind lived peacefully with the gods. The music poses profound existential questions over the meaning of life. In the first section the great mystery of existence is addressed. In part two we see humankind lost in its own thoughts and self-made illusions. The third part shows the intangibles such as love, beauty and the sublime, but also the struggles that bind inextricably to them. The fourth part brings all elements together in a rousing finale.
